Welcome to Brawley, California
We left very early this morning from the highest point on this first part of the tour and pedaled with monstrous tailwinds down interstate 8. Big rigs on the left, drop offs on the right! And gusty side winds! Shouldn't of had coffee before that "spinning wheel of
terror"! We made it no problem. Sorry
couldn't snap any pictures, I was
"white knuckle-Lin" the whole way!
Anyway, lots of Border Patrol running
around here. I wanted to stop and
ask one of these bros if they knew
my uncle Adam.
For those out there tracking us, try and find these places, we started in
Live Oak Springs, then Boulevard,
Jacumba, Seeley, El Centro and we
finished the day in Brawley.

At The Top
Tough day of climbing, but we have been going easy to break in our legs and our butts. $25 per night for camping, not all camp sites are the same.
Last night we had a picnic table with an awning, showers, hot tub, pool and
fresh cumquats growing in the next
tent site. Tonight nothing, not even
a bathroom!
Anyway, more tomorrow and lots of
downhill.

Camp 1
Strangely, we are seeking the shade, for the first day on our tour was hot, maybe 80 degrees. Lots of traffic, but things went great, all is well at this nice RV park.
Pensively Facing East
Josh contemplating what lies ahead...We start from San Diego with plans for an easy Day 1. From past tours, we know getting out of big metro areas on bikes is challenging.

Leaving Logan
Long-time fellow adventurer and friend Josh Archibald and I have packed our bikes and panniers, double-checked our bike repair items, etc. etc. and will leave tomorrow. High spirits, journeys and long open vistas await us.

2 Days Before We Go
T-minus 2 days. The plan...Heading east from Ocean Park, California on Sunday, March 4, 2012. I guess we'll see if we are actually going to "dip" our wheels in the Pacific. It has been snowing heavy in Logan, with lots more on the way! Been waiting all year for snow and now that I am heading out, it starts! Oh well, we need it and I am sure everyone that loves snow will enjoy it.
